Isle of Reveries Township and Community
How rescued friends move in, open quests, and give the overworld a home.
Isle of Reveries is a dungeon game with a village heart. Steam’s feature list is explicit: construct various buildings, forge a township, and let characters Lief saves move in with new quests and stories. That is closer to Link’s Awakening’s Animal Village energy than to a sim-city spreadsheet. You are not laying tax policy. You are giving pilgrims a place to stand while you keep walking toward the wish.
This page collects what is public. The full building list is not in the demo, which ends after Pilgrim’s Sanctum. Kickstarter and store copy still tell you how to think about the settlement so you do not skip NPCs on launch day.
Why the township exists
The pilgrimage is lonely by design. Few return from the isle. The township is the counterweight: a growing knot of anthropomorphic weirdos who owe Lief a favor. Official text says they offer new quests and stories after they move in. Xbox achievements name several of those stories — bring Mr. Akedo happiness, make Kiwi laugh, scare Vangie, impress or disappoint Oatmeal with a blade, reunite lost lovers, reunite a father and daughter, rescue Quaritz and Bantern. Those are township (or overworld-to-township) hooks. Track names on the NPCs page and the checklist.
Lief’s notebook is the UI for this. Kickstarter copy: a notebook where Lief tracks important characters. Talk to people. If a name appears, assume they can become a neighbor.
What “construct buildings” likely means
We do not have a retail housing menu screenshot with prices. What we do have: store copy about constructing buildings, a township OST preview, and playtest chatter about gardening sidequests. Play like this on launch:
- After each dungeon or rescue, return to the settlement instead of chaining temples blindly.
- Walk every new house. New interiors mean new quest givers.
- If a resident asks for an item, check key items before you wander the entire map. Dungeon tools stay useful outside their temples — that includes helping neighbors.
- Gardening, fishing, and bug catching are listed as rest activities in older feature blurbs. Treat them as township-adjacent pauses, not as the main loop.
If a building does not appear, you probably have not rescued the person who occupies it. This is not a resource grind; it is a consequence of exploration.
Places that feed the village
Kickstarter playtest footage named overworld pockets that are not the main temple list: Crock’s Cave, a misty woods, Village of Spirits, ruins, bird statues. Some of those may be mini-dungeons (Well of Ordeals is an achievement; Kickstarter once said 6 main + 2 mini). When you clear them, go home. The township is where the game stores the emotional result of a side path.
Swamp Town and other OST titles hint at biomes you will pass through on the way. Eight overworld biomes are the current store number. The township is the hub that makes those biomes feel like they belong to someone.
Multiplayer is not the township
Do not confuse the settlement with the two co-op stages. Friends do not move into your village via Steam Remote Play Together. Co-op is a separate mode described on the co-op page. Township is single-player story infrastructure.
Practical launch-day habit
After Fermata in the demo you get a taste of “the real adventure begins.” In the full game, that beat should send you toward both the next dungeon and the people you already met. If you are a completionist, do a township circuit after every key item. If you only care about temples, still talk to Oatmeal before you throw away a fake blade — two achievements hinge on that impression.

Frequently Asked Questions
Quick answers for pilgrims heading to the isle.
Do I build a town in Isle of Reveries?
Yes. Official store text says you construct buildings and forge a township. Rescued characters move in with extra quests.
Is the township in the demo?
The demo is the opening, first dungeon, and first boss. The full settlement loop is a retail feature. The demo walkthrough stays in Sanctum.
Can I miss township quests?
If you skip NPCs, yes. Use the notebook and the NPC list so names like Kiwi and Mr. Akedo do not vanish.
Is township content required to finish the game?
Story completion likely needs some of it; a Perfect Ending achievement exists. We will not invent which residents are mandatory before launch.
