Isle of Reveries Key Items and Tools
Every named tool that survives its dungeon and stays on the HUD.
Key items in Isle of Reveries are dungeon souvenirs that refuse to become junk. Official feature lists repeat the same promise: each of the seven dungeons has a distinct theme, mechanic, and key item, and those items remain useful in combat and puzzles afterward. This page names the tools we can actually source. If a trailer flashes something unnamed, it stays unnamed.
Assign these on the four face-button HUD slots. Jump is not on this list; it is a dedicated button. See controls and how to play.
Frog lantern (Clem’s Lantern)
The first real item. Kickstarter names it Clem’s Lantern: “Every great adventure starts with a lantern, right? Except this one’s shaped like a frog.” Use it to light braziers, dark rooms, and anything that looks like it wants a flame. Keep it equipped in early Pilgrim’s Sanctum even after you get the sword. Dark rooms in this genre are not atmosphere; they are locks. Later mines and villas still want it; see advanced tools and dungeons.
Sword
A short arc for contact combat. You will spend more time placing copies than fencing, but bosses still have windows that want steel. Pair it with jump. Do not expect a spin attack unless the full game adds one — the demo does not advertise a meter.
Lift / Power Glove
Demo timestamps call the pickup tool a Power Glove. Functionally: grab small environmental objects, put them on switches, throw them. After the January 2025 demo update you push large blocks by walking into them, so the glove is for the things you lift, not for every crate. If a pot looks throwable, it probably is.
Fairy companion (copy)
The signature item-verb. Copy a valid object, spawn the copy. This is documented at length in the copy-spawn guide and the copy objects list. Treat it as a key item even though it is also a character. You get it mid-Sanctum, not at file creation.
Slinger, Clawncher, Draco’launcher, Pictograph Box, Magic Sack, and the Power Pogo have a dedicated page: advanced tools. The short versions stay below so this list remains a HUD cheat sheet.
Fairy Slinger
Kickstarter still: “Use the Fairy Slinger to fling your companion forward and copy distance objects.” When a useful statue sits across a pit, this is the answer instead of a twenty-minute detour. On the HUD it will compete with copy itself; keep both if the dungeon is vertical.
Clawncher
A claw that pulls objects toward Lief, including blocks and stretchy mushrooms that launch you. Kickstarter also says Lief can steal an enemy’s weapon with it. That is a combat line, not only a puzzle line. When a later dungeon wants you to yank a mushroom, then copy the mushroom, you are in the intended late-game grammar.
Draco’launcher
Xbox achievement: “Obtain the Draco’launcher.” We do not have a full retail description. Name confirmed, function not invented here. Expect a ranged or dragon-themed dungeon toy that, per the game’s own rules, should still matter after you leave its temple. Check this page again after September 4.
Spike, slingshot, and combos
Official microclips show a spike-and-slingshot combo. Those may be copyable traps, dungeon items, or both. If you see spikes in a room, ask “can I own this?” before you ask “can I dodge this?”
Trinkets
Not key items, but they live in the same mental inventory. desertcucco posted that Lief finds trinkets with temporary buffs and can swap them at a trading post. A Kickstarter line awards a short power-up for defeating five or more enemies without being hurt. Slot them for a tough gauntlet, then swap back. They will not replace the lantern.
Loadout advice
Early game: lantern, sword, lift, then swap lift for copy. Mid game: copy, slinger, lantern, sword. Late game (expected): copy, Clawncher or Draco’launcher, sword, utility. Always: jump on a shoulder.
Key items are why the items hub exists separately from guides. When a township resident wants a lit brazier or a pulled mushroom, you already own the verb. That is the design.
